About Blood & Brain
Founder
The company was founded by Mike Schachter, a computational scientist with diverse experiences in machine learning, data science, neuroscience, and cancer research. He started out as software engineer, moved into computational neuroscience, received his PhD at UC Berkeley studying the brain, and went on to work at biotech companies as well as Google.
Work philosophies
- Reduce risk: experiments are expensive, we think it best to deeply analyze existing science and experimental results to de-risk future experiments, which reduces long term cost to your company.
- Minimal code: we prefer to leverage existing software frameworks and tried-and-true methodologies instead of generating de novo codebases that re-invent the wheel.
- Cloud-first: if you've already built a data center, great, we'll use it. Otherwise we will do our best to implement solutions that work in a cost-effective way on the cloud.
- Remote friendly: we are willing to work with companies all over the world, which requires scheduling flexibility and remote collaboration.
